Know an outstanding arts citizen or organization? Nominate them for a Horizon Award
Nominations are being accepted for the Fresno Arts Council’s 34th annual Horizon Awards, which honor exceptional citizens and organizations for their contributions to the arts. This year’s awards ceremony will be held Oct. 24, 2019, at the Tower Theatre.
Anyone can submit a nomination as long as the nominee is a Fresno County-based individual, group, or business.
From the arts council:
Over 200 outstanding Fresno County citizens and organizations have been awarded for their contributions to the arts in the Fresno community since the inaugural event in 1984, which includes awardees like Audra McDonald, Gary Soto, Good Company Players, Fresno State President Dr. Joseph Castro, Hmong American Poet Soul Vang, former City of Fresno Poet Laureate Bryan Medina, and many more. This annual ceremony is just one of the many services and programs provided by the FAC to support and steward arts and cultural activities to positively impact the cultural economy of Fresno County and beyond.
The Annual Horizon Awards recognize nominees in six categories: Artist, Business, Citizen, Educator, President’s and Youth. Special guest and keynote speaker at the awards will be 2018 MacArthur Fellow Vijay Gupta.
Nomination forms are available at the Fresno Arts Council’s website. They must be completed and submitted by Aug. 5.
