You can win a pair of tickets to the Fresno Philharmonic’s next Masterworks concert, titled “Schubert’s Great Symphony” (3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, Saroyan Theatre.) From the marketing folks at the orchestra: The Fresno Philharmonic salutes our veterans with that most martial of all instruments, the trumpet. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s John Hagstrom (former Principal Trumpet of the U.S. Marine Band “The President’s Own”) performs Arutiunian’s spectacularly virtuosic Trumpet Concerto. The concert concludes with Schubert’s glorious Symphony No. 9, one of the grandest statements of the human spirit.
