Sunday pick: Chamber music in Oakhurst from the Sierra Foothill Musicians

Clyde Lansing, clarinet, Sandy Schaefer, flute, and Barbara Ulman, piano, are members of Sierra Foothill Musicians.

Barbara Ulman, part of the Sierra Foothill Musicians, tells me that the three-year-old ensemble keeps drawing more listeners. The group puts on two concerts a year.

“Last January we had an audience of 140, which is the largest ever for chamber music in Oakhurst,” Ulman says. “We’re an eclectic group; there’s a core of regulars, and each concert has featured different musicians. Our pool keeps growing.”

The next concert is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church. The program includes works by Haydn, Schumann, Mozart and Rossini. Admission is free; donations are accepted. The concert is sponsored by Vision Academy of the Arts.
