Win tickets to Fresno Philharmonic’s ‘Mahler Here & Now: From Seed to Symphony’

You can win tickets to Sunday’s Fresno Philharmonic’s Masterworks concert. Music director Rei Hotoda continues her multiseason exploration of Mahler’s symphonies this weekend (concerts are 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, both at Shaghoian Concert Hall) when the orchestra performs the lyrical Fourth Symphony. One of the hallmarks of this piece is a song for soprano describing a child’s view of heaven. Noted opera singer Jasmine Habersham does the vocal honors. She’s appeared in productions across the United States, including Atlanta Opera, Utah Festival Opera and the Opera Theatre of St. Louis.

Also on the program is Gabriela Lena Frank’s moving 2021 work “Contested Eden,” inspired by the devastation of nature from California’s recent spate of wildfires.

The giveaway tickets are for the 3 p.m. Sunday concert. The contest is open to members, donors and individual sponsors of The Munro Review. Tax-deductible memberships start at $5 a month, and you can make a one-time donation of as little as $3. (Paid memberships help keep the site running, and paid members get special members-only benefits. Please consider a paid membership in support of independent, local arts journalism.) A free membership option is available. For details on how to join, go to the Membership and Sponsorship page. No purchase, donation or membership is necessary to enter the ticket giveaway.

To enter this giveaway, leave a reply on this post (see below). Deadline to enter is 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3. The winner will be picked at random and notified by email. Please remember to check your email on Saturday to see if you’re a winner.

I can’t imagine what a wildfires-induced musical composition would sound like and I profoundly curious!
