Win tickets to ‘Seussical Jr.’ at Children’s Musical Theaterworks
What do you get when you mix up some of the whimsical tales of Dr. Seuss and the musical magic of composer Stephen Flaherty and lyricist Lynn Ahrens? A 2000 Broadway musical titled “Seussical.”
Here’s your chance to see the Children’s Musical Theaterworks version. The company is in the middle of the first weekend of “Seussical Jr.,” the second production of the company’s summer season. (You can still catch a first-weekend performance 7:30 p.m. Saturday or 2 p.m. Sunday.)
I’m giving away a four-pack of tickets to any show the second weekend (7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.
Here’s a promotional video made by Kyle and Brandon Lowe:
Ella Rutiaga and Diego Sosa direct a cast made up of 6- to 13-year-olds.
The plot is drawn from such classic Dr. Seuss stories as “Horton Hears a Who!,” “Horton Hatches the Egg,” and “Gertrude McFuzz.”
The contest is open to members, donors and individual sponsors of The Munro Review. Tax-deductible memberships start at $5 a month, and you can make a one-time donation of as little as $3. (Paid memberships help keep the site running, and paid members get special members-only benefits. Please consider a paid membership in support of independent, local arts journalism.) A free membership option is available. For details on how to join, go to the Membership and Sponsorship page. No purchase, donation or membership is necessary to enter the ticket giveaway.
To enter this giveaway, leave a reply on this post (see below) answering this question: If someone asked you to sit on an egg until it hatched, would you do it? (Or, if you’d prefer just to tell us why you want to see the show, you can do that, too.) Deadline to enter is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7. The winner will be picked at random and notified by email. Please remember to check your email on Wednesdayevening to see if you’re a winner.

Hm… depends on what kind of egg. Chicken? Sure. Lizard? Why not. Dinosaur? Cool. Cockroach? Nooooooo.

Nope too many eggs never hatch.

Ostrich egg? Robin egg? Sir, the respective egg upon which I must sit would be a determining factor as to whether I would endeavor to hatch said egg. Then again, I would rather hatch a plot or a plan, though I might be able to keep still long enough to hatch something while watching SEUSSICAL.
