A new episode of ‘The Munro Review on CMAC’ welcomes the opening weekend of Fresno State’s intriguing take on ‘Dracula’

J. Daniel Herring, director of the new Fresno State production of Kate Hamill’s “Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really,” has always been a fan of the horror genre. Still, he knew he was in for a challenge when directing such an experience onstage. Audiences are widely used to the tropes of horror movies: the scary music, the tight shots, the ominous lighting. In a theater, directors have to craft a different type of experience — one that can immerse the audience even without the encompassing environment of a big screen.

In the latest episode of “The Munro Review on CMAC,” I talk to Herring along with two other leading actors in the Fresno State production, Paulina Marín Contreras and Steven Kairuz. Producer Kyle Lowe and I went on location at one of the show’s rehearsals. Here it is:
