Win a four-pack of tickets to ‘The Nutcracker’

It wouldn’t be the holidays without “Nutcracker.” I’m giving away a family four-pack of tickets to one of this weekend’s performances. The show will be performed 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Saroyan Theatre.

Along with a full complement of local dancers and performers, the production features two prominent professional dancers:

Sava Milojevic was born in Serbia where he began his ballet training at age 11. Throughout his professional career he has worked for nine seasons with notable companies in Europe as the Bavarian State Ballet and the Stuttgart Ballet. Sava has also been awarded numerous medals at Serbian National Ballet competitions.

Melissa Chapski was born in Medfield, Massachusetts. In 2015 she graduated from the  Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program in New York City under the mentorship of Erin Forrest and Edward Ellison. That same year she was awarded a gold medal at the Indianapolis International Ballet Competition and YAGP’s Boston semi-final, as well as a contract to Dutch National Ballet’s junior company at YAGP Finals. Melissa danced for nine years with the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam and the BayerischesStaatsballett in Munich.

The contest is open to members, donors and individual sponsors of The Munro Review. Tax-deductible memberships start at $5 a month, and you can make a one-time donation of as little as $3. A free membership option is available. For details on how to join, go to the Membership and Sponsorship page. No purchase, donation or membership is necessary to enter the ticket giveaway.

To enter this giveaway, leave a reply on this post (see below) answering this question: What is your favorite “Nutcracker” memory? (If you’d rather just tell us why you want to attend the event, that’s fine, too.) Deadline to enter is 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The winner will be picked at random and notified by email. Please remember to check your email on Saturday morning to see if you’re a winner.

My favorite Nutcracker memory is the one that I hope to make soon! I want to take my good friend because it’s always been her tradition, but we couldn’t afford it this year. Her daughter passed away a few months ago and I’d love to take her. She’s still hoping to make it. Fingers crossed.

The Fresno Area Community, continues to provide Great Entertainment! It’s been said, a thousand times, but Support the Arts, either by attending, buying Program Space, or leaving a Donation. Measure P is a great help to the Arts, but the above requests, help fill in the gaps.

My favorite memory is the dance of the sugar plum fairies. Such a great moment.
