Weekend pick: Youth Orchestras hits a sweet spot with ‘A Taste of Chocolate’

By Hailey Milasich

What happens when you pair a full youth orchestra with chocolate and storytelling?

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, the Youth Orchestras of Fresno presents its VIP Experience Concert, an afternoon showcasing the full power and talent of all YOOF musicians in one special performance. The concert is titled “A Taste of Chocolate, A Touch of Magic.”

The concert features every YOOF ensemble, highlighting rich, expressive orchestral works designed to pair beautifully with a sensory experience of chocolate and storytelling. It’s more than a concert, organizers say – it’s a multi-sensory celebration of sound, taste and artistry.
The VIP Experience Ticket includes:

• A curated chocolate tasting flight.

• A special presentation by Raphio Chocolatiers.

• A handcrafted souvenir pottery dish by Good Dirt Collective’s Mud Girls.

• A Golden Ticket Giveaway.

Tickets start at $25, offering an accessible way to experience live orchestral music in a creative and immersive setting.

Earlier, at 12:30 p.m., a youth “matinee” concert designed for younger listeners features the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Tickets are $10 (and don’t include the VIP Experience.)

Both concerts are at Shaghoian Concert Hall.

For families, music lovers and anyone looking for a unique afternoon out, these concerts offer a sweet twist on the traditional symphony experience.
