Weekend pick: ‘Shrek: The Musical’ at Oakhurst’s Golden Chain Theatre

Golden Chain Theatre

Donkey deserves his star treatment in Oakhurst’s ‘Shrek: The Musical.’

Faithful TMR reader Gail Marshall writes:

I saw a performance of “Shrek” in Oakhurst and it was just delightful. The lead actors were exceptional and the costuming amazing. What an ambitious undertaking by a community theater. Dragon was terrific and the Magic Mirror — wow! Highly recommended. It’s not just for kids. Definitely worth the drive.

“Shrek: The Musical” has three performances left in its run: 7 p.m. Friday, June 10; 7 p.m. Saturday, June 11; and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12.

Next up for the company is “Someone Save My Baby, Ruth! (Or Foil That Villain!)” It opens July 1.
