5 picks for May ArtHop: Create Studio Fresno in the M Street Arts Complex, Spectrum Art Gallery, My Homies Kitchen, Fig Tree Gallery and Corridor 2122

By Olivia Pavao

Happy May, everybody! It’s just about that time again in Fresno: the first ArtHop of the month.

As the seasons begin to turn over a new leaf, so do many of our local artists and galleries. This month’s picks are definitely worth the trip to Downtown and Tower.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and Create Studio Fresno knows it. Located in the heart of the Downtown venues in the M Street Arts complex, this craft–and-DIY studio will have tons of trinkets and novelty items that would make the perfect gift for moms of all kinds.

They feature many local artists in their store, as well as their studio exclusive “Fresno Collection”. For this month’s ArtHop, they will additionally be hosting seven special pop ups including baked goods, bodega sandwiches, build-a-bouquets and more.

Create Studio Fresno is just one of many vendors at this month’s ArtHop at M Street. They will feature over 10 other artists in the complex– and if you’re a sandwich lover (or a free food lover) don’t skip M Street this time around. If you visit any of the local artists in the M Street Arts Complex during ArtHop, you’ll receive a ticket for a free sandwich while supplies last!

STORY CONTINUES AFTER SPONSORED CONTENT

Spectrum Art Gallery

Spectrum Art Gallery is taking over the second floor of Fresno City Hall for their Satellite Show. The show will feature an eclectic collection of work by its members solely dedicated to the art forms of photography. The gallery will live there through May 30.

My Homies Kitchen

My Homies Kitchen presents “An Ode to the Divine Feminine” featuring works by Maria Rosas, Andrea Cano-Torres and Mariah Alvarez.

The venue will also have live music and hors d’oeuvres. Fancy!

Fig Tree Gallery

Fig Tree Gallery has a funky surprise in store for us this time around: Artist Evany Zirul’s “Metal Menagerie: A Touchable Sculpture Exhibition”, which will run through June 1.

Steel and bronze animal sculptures will turn Fig Tree Gallery into a metallic petting zoo! Visitors are encouraged to gently pet the sculptures.

Corridor 2122

Corridor 2122 is hosting an opening Art Hop reception of “unBodied” by guest artist Anna Ingels.

“unBodied” is Ingels’ thesis home show, featuring a collection of work she created throughout grad school. The art exhibition will run through May 25.

Be on the lookout

I’ll be in attendance in search of some Mother’s Day gifts for the moms in my life and enrichment from all of these wonderfully talented artists.

Keep your eyes peeled– I’ve got a full breakdown of Create Studio Fresno in the works, featuring a highlight from one of their special pop ups and local artists.
