Happy opening weekend to the Children’s Musical Theaterworks production of “Beetlejuice Jr.” If you missed the national tour of this comic musical at the Saroyan Theatre earlier this year, now’s your chance to follow the story of America’s favorite poltergeist (am I using that word properly? It seems jauntier than saying America’s favorite demon) and experience top-notch young talent. It continues 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Fresno Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Plus, you can win a pair of tickets to any of the second-weekend performances July 17-19.

An ongoing fantasy of mine is to snap my fingers and instantly appear with scissors, paints, and paper arranged in orderly rows around me as I smile like a cheesy magician-not quite a ghost–in front of a classroom!

I love theater and attend most local theater performances and have attended ones in New York City. But, I have to admit that I’ve never seen Beetlejuice the movie or play, but it sounds great.
