Laura Bell Bundy, the original Elle Woods, will teach master class to cast of CMT’s ‘Legally Blonde’
Children’s Musical Theaterworks deserves a chorus of the song “Omigod You Guys.” The theater company has snagged none other than Laura Bell Bundy, who originated the role of Elle Woods in the Broadway production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” to teach a master class and give a performance, both tied to the April CMT production of the title.
Bundy’s master class will be free for cast members. (Auditions for the show, which will feature performers ages 12-20, are 1 p.m. Feb. 17 and 18 at Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis.) The master class also will be open to the public (all ages welcome) for a fee. (Details to come.)
Bundy’s performance, billed as a “mini-concert,” will be April 8, the Sunday before tech week begins for “Legally Blonde.” The show runs April 13-22 at Fresno’s Veterans Memorial Auditorium.
K.C. Rutiaga, CMT board president, describes the format of Bundy’s appearance:
Our cast will open the show with Laura as a sneak peek with one song. Then Laura will sing two songs alone and take questions from the audience, and then the cast and Laura will sing one closing song together from the show.
It’s quite a coup for CMT to land such a big name. Besides “Legally Blonde” on Broadway, Bundy starred in “Hairspray” and “Wicked.” She was a regular on the TV series “Hart of Dixie” and “Anger Management.”
CMT is working with a company called Straight from New York, which connects well-known Broadway performers such as Bundy with theaters across the country. The roster includes Alice Ripley, Chad Kimball, Faith Prince and Constantine Maroulis.

It’s pretty rare that I have an authentic use for the text-term “OMG!!”
This is it.
What a wonderful experience CMT is creating for their kids! Big kudos to them.
