Tuesday pick: Classical Indian music at Fresno State

Pandit Debasis Chakroborty will perform at Fresno State.

The concert: Listen to the Indian slide guitar, sitar and tablar in an evening of Indian classical Hindustani music.

The performers: Pandit Debasis Chakroborty, who plays the Indian slide guitar, is a music professor at the Institute of Visual, Performing Arts & Research, Mangalayatan University, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. Lovely Sharma, who plays sitar, is vice chancellor of Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University in Gwalior, India. She has used music therapy to work with prisoners in India. Pandit Shashanka Bakshi accompanies on the tabla.

The performance: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, Wahlberg Recital Hall, Fresno State. Tickets are $15 general, free for Fresno State students. Details: jksharma@csufresno.edu.
