It doesn’t get any better than this: Audra McDonald, acclaimed Fresno hometown Broadway star, returns to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Good Company Players.

I’m excited to give away a pair of V.I.P. tickets to this memorable event, which will take place 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Warnors Theatre.

These premium seats are in a superb location (Row G!). A special thank-you to Good Company Players for its generosity. The contest is open to members, donors and individual sponsors of The Munro Review. Tax-deductible memberships start at $5 a month, and you can make a one-time donation of as little as $3. (Paid memberships help keep the site running, and paid members get special members-only benefits. Please consider a paid membership in support of independent, local arts journalism.) A free membership option is available. For details on how to join, go to the Membership and Sponsorship page. No purchase, donation or membership is necessary to enter the ticket giveaway.

To enter this giveaway, leave a reply on this post (see below). Tell us why you love Audra or GCP! (Or you can just say you’d like to go to the concert.) Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 21. The winner will be picked at random and notified by email.

We have been fans of Dan Pessano and GCP since the beginning. We were fortunate enough to watch Audra grow up through the Jr. Company and then have followed her throughout her career. It would be an honor to be present for this concert! Thanks so much for the opportunity!

I was at the performance of All Shook Up yesterday and enjoyed seeing a young cast with the promise of good musical theater for many more years. Great to see a full group of Junior company players, including Finley who just gave an amazing performance in Bad Seed at Second Space. I have seen Audra before. I love her stage presence that makes you feel you are sitting in her living room as well as sharing her angelic voice. I would love to go to this show.

I played piano for the junior company when Audra was a young girl. She shone brightly then. Later I rocked my first grandson with Audra singing Baby Moon from her album of originallyi composed tunes. Even later my husband Roy and I went on a theatre tour withe the Pasanos and could have had lunch with Audra in Nee York. But Roy wanted to see the Statue of Liberty and the line kept us from doing that. I’d love to hear The mature Audra sing. Say hello to her from this admirer. (Pat Isom)

I was an ensemble performer in GCP’s Evita in 1987 and got to witness up close and personal a 16-year-old Audra nailing that demanding role. We all knew she was going to be a star. I’d love to see that shining star on a Fresno stage again!
