October tends to be a busy season in the local arts scene. The temperatures are falling and social calendars are filling up. This month, we’re highlighting a few options that are perfect for enjoying the autumnal outdoors, experiencing collaborative art, or providing some food for thought. Pair with spiced cider or a spicy red wine (your choice!)

Pocket Ofrendas Workshop

The Art of Love
Experience Shakespeare’s sonnets through live performance and visual art as Chanticleer Shakespeare Co. presents an evening of the Bard’s intimate poetry alongside artist Leslie Batty, who will create an original painting in response to the sonnets in real time. A reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres follows.

The Great Valley Gathering
A fee three-day folklife festival presented by the Alliance for California Traditional Arts (ACTA) and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, partners Arte Américas and Fresno Arts Council. Celebrate the rich cultural diversity of California’s Central Valley through music, dance, traditional arts, and more.

Yosemite Celtic Festival and Highland Games
