Weekend pick: Aleño Dance Project celebrates its fifth anniversary

By Donald Munro

Alexandra Tiscareno, the creator and executive director of Aleño Dance Project, started the contemporary and modern dance company five years ago with a distinctive mission: She believes that any BODY can dance, regardless of size and shape.

Now, five years later, she’s celebrating an anniversary with a concert titled “Homeo-static” on Saturday, Oct. 24. The performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Village Green in Clovis, 2610 Encino Ave.

In addition to the company, the concert will feature performances from Companía de Danza del Sol, Jasmín la Carís, Kara Bithell, Fresno City College, and Andrew Merrell.

Tiscareno is an adjunct faculty member at Fresno City College. She attended FCC, then went on to get her MFA in the Bay Area.

Tickets are VIP $25, general $20 and students $15.
