The BYU Singers ensemble is considered one of the top collegiate choirs in the nation. The ensemble, representing Brigham Young University, is on tour in California, and you can catch them tonight (7 p.m. Tuesday, May 7) at University Presbyterian Church, 1776 E Roberts Ave., Fresno.

Conducted by Dr. Andrew Crane, the group performs pieces from nearly every musical genre as well as many original works written or arranged for the choir.

This really is a top-notch group: It has performed at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, Kapella in St. Petersburg, and Musikverein in Vienna. The ensemble represented the United States at the Fourth World Choral Symposium. It has visited more than 27 countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Ghana, Egypt, China, Russia, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, England and Ireland.

Tickets are $22.50. Proceeds will go to local students, “especially choir members in attending college,” organizers say.
