The student-led show, adapted by John Glore from Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel, follows Meg Murry as she travels across space and time searching for her missing father. Along the way, she encounters strange new worlds and powerful forces that test her courage, identity and understanding of love.

Justice, the director, said bringing the story to the stage was about more than just the script.

“I wanted to bring as much of the book onto the stage as possible where the script was lackluster,” said Justice, who goes by one name and uses they/them pronouns.

They added that what drew them most to the story were its timeless messages about human connection and self-discovery.

“The main themes that excited me about bringing this onto the stage were love and individuality, and how you can find it in the darnedest of places,” Justice said.

The production is entirely student-driven, with students leading every aspect, from acting and directing to set and costume design. Audiences can expect imaginative sets, creative lighting and eye-catching costumes that bring the story’s otherworldly settings to life. For the students behind the scenes, it’s a chance to gain hands-on experience and showcase their creativity from start to finish.

Performances run April 17–19 at the Lab School 101 Theatre. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance, as there will be no at-door sales.

From interstellar journeys to unexpected discoveries, this production of A Wrinkle in Time offers a thrilling stage experience that highlights the creativity and skill of Fresno State’s student artists.
